Peedie Craft Company started trading in its current form in January 2022. Teresa, who is the artist and designer, moved to Orkney with her family in 2018. She worked on Orkney as a nurse and worked the front line during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Teresa’s spare time, she would paint and use her small microwave kiln to make pendants. After a short time with the microwave kiln, Teresa bought a new kiln and started making more pieces of jewellery and fused glass art.
She took to going to craft fairs to sell her work and discovered that it awoke a passion in her.
After the pandemic, Teresa decided to finish nursing and so the Peedie Craft Company was born.
Here at Peedie Craft Company, we aim to give our customers a choice of either shopping with us at our local craft fairs and exhibitions or through our online shop.
Everything that we sell has been handmade in our small studio here on Orkney.
Inspiration for all of our work comes from the wonderful, wild, and beautiful island of Orkney. The Northern lights and the amazing blue seas around Orkney play a big part in our fused glass work. This can be seen in our Goddess range of jewellery and Orkney Sky range.
Each piece of work will spend at least 24 hours in the kiln before it is either ready to shape and return to the kiln or ready to sell.
Beadwork is a new part of our business. Each bead is handmade from glass and is unique. This technique is called lampworking. Our beads are generally in earthy colours.
